FAQs

Below you will find answers to the questions we get asked the most
Are all AccessU staff fully qualified?

AccessU is regulated and reviewed by the Care Quality Commission, or CQC, the same as all GPs, hospitals, and dentists in the UK.  We believe in and actively ensure compliance to the highest professional standards, including safeguarding for children, the elderly and the vulnerable.

All our GPs are registered with the GMC (General Medical Council), Nurses with the NMC, (Nursing and Midwifery Council) Pharmacists with the GPHC (General Pharmaceutical Council) and Healthcare Professionals with the HCPC (Health and Care Professional )

Our Travel Clinic is guided by best practice guidance set out by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Travel Medicine Association.

How can I make an appointment?

You can fill out the form on our Contact page, email accessu@jclgroup.co.uk or call 023 9283 3380 to speak to one of our staff.

How long will my appointment be?

All standard appointments, whether in person, by phone or video call, are allocated 20 minutes.

For those taking annual subscriptions, yearly Individual Health Reviews are allocated 30 minutes, and Family Inductions are allocated one hour.

Can AccessU make referrals?

Yes. If we feel you would benefit from further tests or investigations regarding a health matter, (for example, X Rays, scans, blood tests,) we will be able to refer you to either a specialist in our network of private healthcare providers or the NHS, depending on what is needed.

Does AccessU offer home visits?

Yes. We are happy to arrange a visit to see you in your own home.

We charge £250 for visits within 60 miles of our health centre in Portsmouth City Centre (PO1 2RY) and are happy to quote for further distances for those who want to see their private GP.

Does AccessU offer travel vaccinations?

  • Vaccinations
  • Malaria Prevention
  • Skincare
  • Digestion Remedies
  • Travel Sickness

Can AccessU fulfill repeat prescriptions?

Yes, our pharmacists can deliver medication requested through repeat prescriptions for £10 per prescription.

Should I keep my NHS GP?

Yes.  We advise working in partnership with the NHS, so with your permission, we would share the notes and prescriptions from your appointments and interactions with AccessU.

We also do not have access to your NHS notes, so it might prove useful to add ours with the NHS records to make sure you have everything in one place.

If seeing advice on complex or longstanding health issues, you are welcome to bring notes, correspondence, or any list of medicines to your AccessU appointments.

Can AccessU help in an emergency?

Whilst we guarantee same-day response to appointment requests, and are always at the end of the phone, in the event of need outside of our office hours, we would advise you call 111, and in life-threatening situations, call emergency services on 999.
