Policies

Consent Policy

As within all health care environments, all people using the service, and those lawfully acting on their behalf, such as parents and carers, must give consent before any care or treatment is provided. Clients/recipients of care have a fundamental legal, moral and ethical right to decide what happens to their bodies. As a provider, AccessU have policies in place to ensure that there is no scope for misunderstanding as to what the responsibilities are of both parties – the client and the healthcare professional providing care.

When providing care, treatment, or an intervention such as immunisation, an AccessU healthcare professional must be satisfied that a patient understands and consents to the procedure. The recipient of care/client must provide permission with full knowledge and understanding of the possible consequences, understanding both risks versus benefits. To achieve full informed consent, it may be that an interpreter, sign language, visual aids or diagrams need to be used to meet the communication needs of the client.

Equality and Diversity Policy

AccessU is committed to providing diversity and equality to all employees whether full time, part time or temporary. We firmly believe that to thrive, our workforce needs to be comprised of individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skills so as to best serve the client population of Portsmouth city and surrounding areas. We therefore embrace our legal obligations under the legislation which makes it unlawful to discriminate directly or indirectly as well as embedding a positive company culture of acceptance and inclusivity.

A key aspect of creating a diverse workplace, with equal opportunity afforded to all, is the non-toleration of any form of discrimination, direct or indirect, within working arrangements and practices.

AccessU’s full policy highlights the company’s aims with regards to promoting its positive, person centred, inclusive working environment for its employees as well as outlining how AccessU aims to provide equitable access for all its clients. This policy will also demonstrate the company’s zero tolerance approach to unlawful discrimination and describe the clear processes that exist in terms of how the company is able to achieve its aims.
